License/Certification Requirement:

  • Mechanical applicants must possess an EPA Certification and hold a license with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation
  • Electrical applicants must hold a current Journeyman License
  • VMET (Verification of Military Experience and Training) is accepted if it reflects relevant electrical or mechanicalexperience and is approved by customer

Responsibilities

Responsible for ensuring that all electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment within the data center is operating at peak efficiency. This involves both planned preventative maintenance of equipment, daily corrective work, and emergency response to emergent issues. The technician serves as an expert technical resource reporting to a program manager, interacting with Onsite Engineering Operations (OEO) and any third party vendors. They are expected to be a singular focal point for all facility operations within a given data center and to support operated data centers. Data center equipment that supports mission-critical servers must maintain better than 99.999% uptime.

  • Utilizes safe working practices; can apply lockout/tagout, SDS, applies good housekeeping methods, etc.
  • Ability to type and utilize common administrative and office software.
  • Reads and reviews blueprints, floor plans, wiring diagrams, mechanical riser drawings, and job specifications.
  • Ability to use hand tools and test equipment to install, troubleshoot, and repair new or replacement parts for existing units covered under CET1 classified procedures, according to specifications and established safety guidelines, relying on MOPs, manufacturer’s literature, and industry best practices to perform tasks under supervision, and ensures activities are logged in CMMS.
  • Capable of assisting a CET2 technician with CET2 classified procedures (MOP/SOP) associated with the site/campus they are based.
  • Daily walk-through of facility documenting parameters such as power availability, temperature and humidity, alarm status, etc. to be catalogued and compared for identification of discrepancies and trends.
  • Ability to understand site-specific processes and procedures such as how to report an incident or outage, procedure execution, PM standards, CMMS system, as well as the use of SharePoint to access CE procedures and training content.
  • Ability to learn how to access the site primary and secondary EOP's and understand the purpose of each of the EOP's and the critical nature of being an operator and first responder in the datacenter.
  • Navigate and verify the nominal status of the electrical and mechanical infrastructure via the BMS and EPMS systems, following site MOP & SOP procedures.

Qualifications

  • Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED or greater
  • Applicant must have a 4+ years of experience in a data center environment or other critical facilityenvironment in the electrical or mechanicalfield
  • Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements, including U.S. Citizenship, for access to classified information; Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
  • Applicants identified as Mechanical shall have experience with centrifugal chillers greater than 300 tons, boilers, or significant other mechanicalexperiences
  • Applicants identified as Electricalshall have experience with switchgear, generators, UPS or significantother electrical experiences
  • Electrical applicants must hold a current Journeyman License
  • Mechanical applicants must possess an EPA Certification and a hold a license with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation
  • VMET (Verification of Military Experience and Training) is accepted if it reflects relevant electrical or mechanical experience and is approved by customer

Abilities:

  • The position requires the ability to lift, carry, and move objects weighing up to [50 pounds] on a regular basis. Candidates must demonstrate physical strength and stamina to perform various tasks, including but not limited to, loading, and unloading, operating equipment, and assisting in the transportation of various materials. Proper lifting techniques and safety protocols must be followed to ensure personal and team safety.
  • Relocates a 12-foot stepladder without assistance.
  • Works at various heights up to 60 feet and can climb and maintain balance on scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks and all types of ladders.
  • Walks, climbs, lifts, squats, crawls, kneels, pushes, pulls and reaches overhead on a routine and repetitive basis.
  • Possess good vision (may be corrected vision), the ability to see in color, and the ability to hear and communicate in English.
  • May use a standard ladder without exceeding the weight limit while carrying tools.
  • Tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong.
  • It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem.
  • Apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.
  • Combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (including finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events).
  • See details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
