TheCritical Facility Technician – Mechanical Leadserves as the lead mechanical journeyperson , providing technical leadership and guidance while working alongside onsite Critical Facility Engineers. The Mechanical Lead is responsible for ensuring the overall reliability, performance, and operational health of all critical mechanical infrastructure within the data center environment. This includes oversight of mechanical system installation , acceptance testing, and advanced technical support for site operations. The Mechanical Lead leverages extensive hands-on experience to install mechanical systems, mentor, train, and develop technical staff, ensuring technicians possess the skills necessary to safely diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve complex mechanical system issues.
Primary Duties within varied scope of work and client expectations will range from:
- Work with Construction teams to ensure the reliability and maintainability of new and modified installations. Ensure newly built systems meet design intent and perform without issue during the facility acceptance testing phases. Review construction equipment submittals, commissioning plans and identify potential deficiencies.
- Responsible for conducting and/or overseeing preventive maintenance on regular mechanical, air handlers, HVAC, plumbing systems, and periodic testing of the equipment
- Utilize established programs and procedures to maximize equipment operability and efficiency while minimizing lifecycle costs.
- Understand potential equipment failures and provide full technical support to Operations teams in the event of a critical system failure.
- Perform Root-Cause Failure Analysis and facilitate corrective action.
- Validate maintenance performance by analyzing trends, operational history, and maintenance data.
- Provide at request guidance and technical support to Facility Operators. Represent the operation department in project meetings as needed.
- Establish and review project objectives, policies, procedures (MO P , S O P, and E OP ) and performance standards within boundaries of company policies. Put the sentence in clear concise work statement for the field . Follow S O Ps and MOPs and other work procedures precisely
- Directly work with assigned technicians in all aspects of day - to-d a y o perations and maintenance of all electrical critical facility equipment.
- Ensure Site Teams are proficient system operation and maintenance techniques. Provides direct ion and training to less experienced O &M Specialist s .
- On-call to respond to emergency situations at the data ce nt er.
- Perform preventive tests and analyze data to ensure the proper functioning of all installed mechanical components
- Performs unscheduled maintenance tasks and response to requests on a regular basis, including assessing the nature of the emergency, determining a solution to prevent further damage or problems, and identifying the resources needed to resolve the problem
- Be responsible for ensuring the reliability and safety of the data center systems by monitoring, operating, and maintaining, Data center systems and equipment
- Work in conjunction with building associates and third-party vendors to optimize operations and energy efficiency
- Work with outside vendors on scheduled maintenance on various building systems
- Responsible for daily, weekly, monthly, and annual preventative maintenance for data center Operat i ons, incl u di n g es c orti n g v en d ors w h ile on-site.

Required Qualifications, Skills, and Experience for Success for varied Client SOW:
- Associate's deg r ee in Engi n eeri ng , b u il d i n g e n gi n eeri n g is preferab l e fr o m an acc r edited universi t y or e q ui v ale n t en g i n eeri n g field e xperie n c e
- Knowledge of rack installation processes
- Good o b s erv a tion skil l s a n d probl e m -s o l ving abil i ty.
- Ability to suc c essfully w ork in d epen d ently
- Safely able to lift 50 lbs., w ork on s tep ladders up to 12 f e et and cl i mb ve r tical l a dders up to 20 f eet.
Preferred Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:
