Job summary

Job description

Critical Facilities Technician

Under the direction of the Facility Manager, this position requires extensive hands‑on analysis, maintenance and troubleshooting of our 24×7 facility operations within Aligned Data Centers. The role involves installation, repair, and maintenance of critical and non‑critical mechanical and electrical machinery and controls located in the interior and exterior of the building.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain, monitor, and perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on critical and non‑critical equipment.
  • Operate and maintain HVAC systems, plumbing installation/maintenance, generator operations, fire detection and suppression, life safety, temperature control systems, building management systems, and digital systems (including fire alarm, duress, card access, CCTV).
  • Plan, implement, coordinate, and supervise all electrical operations, maintenance, and energy‑management programs for a critical‑facilities environment.
  • Ensure conformance with all change‑control development, approvals, and execution.
  • Schedule, develop, and assure quality for all preventive, contracted, and general maintenance activities.
  • Execute all work in strict accordance with governing MOP, SOP, and ERP procedures and maintenance work instructions.
  • Operate and monitor critical and non‑critical system equipment and components.
  • Oversee work efforts—including third‑party contractors—for safe and compliant operation, maintenance (corrective and preventive), and modification of critical equipment.
  • Disable and enable fire alarm control panels and systems.
  • Receive and execute work orders for preventive and corrective maintenance on critical systems and building physical structure.
  • Consult with the Facility Manager or Lead CFT to order necessary materials and finalize work orders by completing required documentation in the computerized maintenance management system.
  • Respond immediately to emergency situations (fire, evacuation, equipment failure, etc.) and customer concerns.
  • Monitor building operations and tour properties periodically during scheduled shifts.
  • Understand the engineering design and operational aspects of all electrical systems.
  • Evaluate, assign, and monitor the safe‑work responsibilities and safety‑procedures capabilities of employees and contractors.
  • Develop and communicate processes to ensure continuous improvement and innovation.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma and a minimum of 3–5 years of experience in electrical or mechanical critical‑facilities support; or 7+ years of experience as an HVAC or mechanical/electrical technician.
  • Electrical or mechanical certifications preferred.
  • Ability to work overtime and longer shifts (12hours); shifts may include day, night, weekend, and holiday work.
  • Computer skills required: MS Office.
Pay

Hourly Pay Range: $35.00–$45.00.
