Job summary

Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists (GCVS) in Houston, TX seeks an experienced Veterinary Technician for its 24/7 emergency and critical care unit. The role provides advanced nursing care for critically ill and injured patients, with close collaboration with veterinarians and specialty teams to monitor status, administer treatments, and support life-saving interventions.

Full-time with 3x12 hour day shifts and alternating weekends/holidays.

Qualifications

• Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) preferred.
• Experienced Veterinary Technicians/Assistants with a minimum of two years of veterinary experience are encouraged to apply.
• Emergency or Critical Care experience preferred.
• Fluent English speaking and reading skills required.

Responsibilities

• Provide advanced nursing care and monitoring for hospitalized patients, including medications and treatments.
• Deliver compassionate client support with timely updates and explanations of conditions and prognosis.
• Maintain accurate medical records documenting observations, treatments and changes.
• Collaborate with veterinarians and staff to implement patient care plans and escalate as needed.
• Monitor critically ill patients and assist with emergency procedures.
• Maintain clean, organized treatment areas and manage equipment.
