Responsibilities

About this position

Critical Care Transport Flight Medic

We’re looking for CCT Flight Transport Paramedics who are excited to provide high-quality emergency and critical care during patient transport. In this role, you’ll assess, treat, and monitor critically ill or injured adult and pediatric patients during inter-facility and scene emergency transports. You’ll provide care within the California Paramedic scope of practice, follow established CCT protocols and standing orders, and respond to patients’ needs throughout transport. Key Responsibilities
  • Respond to patient care and critical care transport calls according to program protocols.
  • Provide routine, emergency, and critical care in the transport environment in accordance with established CCT policies, protocols, standards of care, standing orders, and medical control.
  • Perform complete patient assessments and document findings, therapeutic interventions, patient responses, and physicians’ transport orders.
  • Provide patient care within the California Paramedic scope of practice and CCT standardized procedures.
  • Perform emergency procedures as required, including CPR and oral endotracheal intubation.
  • Complete scheduled transport unit equipment checks and ensure equipment remains in working order.
  • Maintain clean, fully stocked transport vehicles and accurately complete required supply, billing, controlled substance, and data collection documentation.
  • Participate in CCT Program Quality Improvement activities, continuing education, training, required staff meetings, and annual training.
  • Maintain required licensure and certifications.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and families, hospital staff, nurses, EMTs, ALS/BLS Operations personnel, CCT administration, and community partners.
  • Represent the CCT Flight Program, Liberty Ambulance, and Ridgecrest Regional Hospital professionally.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Collaborative Teamwork

This role involves working closely with our team to deliver effective, patient-focused services and contribute to a supportive and collaborative work environment.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Current California Paramedic License
  • Kern County Accreditation or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire
  • Minimum three years of paramedic experience in a busy 911 setting
  • Experience managing unstable adult cardiac patients and unstable patients of other etiologies
  • Experience managing patients requiring mechanical ventilator support and invasive hemodynamic monitoring
  • Current ACLS, PALS, NRP, BLS, and PHTLS certifications
  • FP-C certification within six months of hire
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Required ICs courses: IS-100B (ICS 100), IS-200B (ICS 200), IS-700A (NIMS), and IS-800B (NIMS)
  • Ability to assess, plan, organize, implement, and evaluate patient care activities
  • Ability to function independently, prioritize, delegate, and use critical thinking skills in a variety of patient care situations
  • Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Must weigh less than 215 pounds fully dressed at the time of hire and maintain that weight
  • Current critical care inter-facility transfer experience preferred
  • Ability to read, write, understand, and communicate effectively in the English language
  • Must be able to put into practice Service Excellence skills with patients, families, coworkers, and the community
