Shift: Shift 3
Three 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM, with every third weekend and holiday rotations.
The Froedtert Hospital Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU-6NT), recipient of the Beacon Award for Excellence, is a high-energy, 26-bed critical care unit where the majority of MICU patients are severely ill and high acuity, requiring frequent nursing assessment and intervention. Specialty therapies may include management of septic shock and multisystem organ failure, targeted temperature management, CRRT/CVVH, IL-2 infusions, rapid infusion for emergent fluid or blood replacement, medication desensitization, and flolan/remodulin infusions. Job Summary:
The Critical Care Technician (CCT), under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, provides delegated age-appropriate care in a culturally and ethnically sensitive manner in the Critical Care Units. The CCT assists patients with tasks outlined in their clinical competency assessment related to basic nursing skills, personal care, basic restorative services, and critical care skills. The CCT practices skills learned during CNA training or basic nursing courses at an accredited school. The CCT may be asked to provide continuous safety observation. This role reports to the Nurse Manager/Assistant Nurse Manager and the RNs on duty each shift. Other duties may be assigned.
Education:
High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
Training:
Completion of the Critical Care Tech course or equivalent within 6 months of hire is required.
Licensure:
State of Wisconsin Nursing Assistant Certification is required, or current enrollment in a nursing program with documentation of successful completion of basic nursing courses and clinical rotations in an accredited program. AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) or equivalent is required within 90 days of hire.
