• High School Diploma or equivalent/relevant experience (certification or license).
• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience required.
• Certification and licensing: EMT/PMD per department description.
• BLS-CPR, ACLS, PALS knowledge.
• Learning agility to adapt to new procedures and priorities.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Proficiency with office software and relevant computer applications.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintains and cares for equipment including IV pumps, glucometer, ultrasound machine; cleans with hospital disinfectant.
• Maintains patient areas with adequate supplies.
• Completes equipment log and reports broken equipment; requests repairs.
• Ensures medication refrigerator is clean; maintains logs; reports temperature deviations.
• Collects vital signs and informs senior staff of abnormalities.
• Accompanies patients to exam rooms for procedures.
• Prepares clinic rooms with necessary equipment and supplies.
• Assists with basic wound care and universal precautions.
• Assists with patient mobility: lifting, positioning, turning, ambulating.
• Collects stool, urine, and sputum samples; transports to lab.
• Reports changes in patient condition to assigned nurse.
• Transports patients between areas as needed.
• Adheres to policies to safeguard university assets.

CORE JOB SUMMARY

The Critical Care Technician - PRN conducts drug utilization review studies, and consults with medical practitioners on prescription orders, patient reactions, and errors. Additionally, this employee works closely with patients and healthcare providers to provide information and guidance about the effects of prescription drugs and help plan effective drug therapy programs.

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS

1. 1. Maintains and cares for all equipment, to include cleaning of intravenous pumps, poles, glucometer, and ultrasound machine with hospital approved disinfectant, before and after use.
2. 2. Maintains patient areas with adequate supplies.
3. 3. Completes equipment log, reports broken equipment, and enters work orders for repair.
4. 4. Ensures that medication refrigerator is clean, maintains refrigerator logs, and reports deviations in temperature range to supervisor.
5. 5. Collects vital signs and communicates abnormalities to appropriate senior staff member(s).
6. 6. Accompanies patients to the exam room for procedures.
7. 7. Prepares clinic rooms for procedures to assure all equipment and supplies are present.
8. 8. Assists with simple wound care and practices universal precautions per policy.
9. 9. Assists in lifting, positioning, turning, and ambulating patients.
10. 10. Collects specimen of stool, urine, and sputum, and transports to laboratory.
11. 11. Reports any changes observed in the condition or behavior of patients to the assigned nurse.
12. 12. Transports patients to and from various areas as indicated.
13. 13. Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
