Job summary

As a Registered Nurse (RN) on our Critical Care Unit (CCU) you will support a 14-bed unit with a typical 1:2 patient ratio and provide 24/7 monitoring for critically ill patients using advanced heart monitors and ventilators. You will educate patients and families, administer medications with the five rights, document patient conditions, and coordinate discharge planning with the healthcare team.

Virginia RN license and nursing degree are required; Bachelor’s degree preferred; BLS within 30 days

Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
Licensed a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia or has a Compact license.
Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date

Responsibilities

Instruct and educate patients and their family members.
Administer all prescribed medications utilizing the 5 rights to medication administration, change dressings, clean wounds, and monitor vital signs.
Monitors, records and communicates patient conditions using computerized documentation systems.
Coordinate discharge planning with members of the healthcare team.
