Qualifications

• Education: Associate’s degree in Health Sciences or relevant field.
• Licensure: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) licensure in the State of Florida.
• NBRC: RRT credential from NBRC before start date and maintained.
• AHA BLS: Healthcare Provider card before start date and maintained.
• ACLS: Healthcare Provider card within ninety (90) days of start date and maintained.
• PALS: Healthcare Provider card within ninety (90) days if in hospital environment and maintained.
• Must have good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Must have good organizational and prioritizing skills.
• Ability to make decisions concerning appropriate therapy and patient care.
• Ability to rapidly respond to life threatening situations.
• Keeps abreast of issues regarding departmental changes and new modalities in Respiratory Care.
• Ability to work independently and be self-motivated.
• Ability to perform acute and intensive care functions for adult/pediatric patients.
• Interpretation of CXR for ETT, Pulmonary Artery, and IABP placements; Heliox initiation.
• Ability to perform arterial line insertions and ultrasound-guided procedures if applicable.
• Ability to initiate, troubleshoot, and manage IABP modalities.
• Bedside pulmonary function testing; monitor hemodynamics; assess breath sounds.
• Attend staff meetings and in-services as required.

Responsibilities

• Initiates and manages invasive and non-invasive ventilation per physicians' orders.
• Troubleshoots and discontinuation of BiPAP, CPAP, and all modes of mechanical ventilation.
• Documents care according to Health First policies and procedures.
• Maintains equipment and reports malfunctions with detailed documentation.
• Delivers patient care reports to oncoming shift and ensures workload completion.
• Adheres to infection control procedures and proper hand washing.
• Communicates to educate patients, families, and staff on Respiratory Care procedures.
• Participates in department education and in-service events.
