Job summary

The Respiratory Therapist II at Wellstar Health System provides advanced respiratory care in complex patient scenarios, primarily in critical care settings. As a PRN role across locations, you will perform assessments, manage ventilators, administer therapies, and educate patients and staff.

You will collaborate with the care team to ensure safe, high-quality outcomes and participate in continuous education and professional development. Excellent communication and critical thinking are essential.

Qualifications

• All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated.
• BLS - Basic Life Support or equivalent.
• ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support or equivalent.
• PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support or equivalent.
• NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation Program or equivalent.
• NBRC-RRT - Registered Respiratory Therapist certification.
• RCP - Respiratory Care Professional.

Responsibilities

• Performs patient assessment and therapy administration.
• Ventilator management, weaning, and airway care (intubation, extubation, trach changes).
• Arterial blood gas sampling and analysis.
• Collaborates with care team to plan patient care.
• Educates patients and mentors/new staff.
• Location-specific: supports invasive/non-invasive procedures, cardiac service, and pulmonary testing.
