Job summary

Amergis is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for ICU care. The role requires current RN licensure, 1+ year ICU experience, and ACEN/CCNE-accredited education. BLS and ACLS are required.

This is a contract, full-time position based at a healthcare facility in the United States. Responsibilities include critical care, life-support monitoring, medication administration, and patient-family education, with opportunities to work in rapid response and code teams.

Qualifications

• Active RN license valid in the United States
• Minimum 1 year ICU experience within the last 2 years
• Associate degree in nursing from ACEN/CCNE-accredited program
• BLS certification (American Heart Association)

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate age-specific critical care for ICU patients
• Care for critically ill patients requiring advanced monitoring and life-support equipment
• Monitor patient data and communicate significant findings to physicians
• Develop and manage individualized nursing care plans and document care
• Administer medications using the Five Rights and prescribed treatments
• Manage patients with hemodynamic monitoring and arterial/central lines
• Assist with invasive procedures within scope of practice
• Respond rapidly to emergencies and participate in code teams
• Educate patients and families and act as patient advocate
• Collaborate with physicians and healthcare teams during rounds and discharge planning
• Adhere to infection-control, safety, and quality standards

Job description

We are seeking experienced Registered Nurse (RN) candidates to provide high-quality, comprehensive nursing care within the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). These positions will support the care of patients with complex medical and surgical conditions and require nurses who are comfortable managing high-acuity patients and providing care across a wide range of ages and clinical needs.

Minimum Requirements

• Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse
• Experience: A minimum of one (1) year qualifying experience in the past two years as a Registered Nurse in Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
• Degree/Education: Minimum of Associate's degree in nursing. The school must be accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) and/or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). For education outside the United States, only the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing School reports are accepted (CGFNS), for overseas degree verification
• BLS (American Heart Association)
• ACLS (American Heart Association)

Key Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate age-specific critical care for patients across all age groups
• Care for critically ill patients requiring advanced monitoring and life-support equipment
• Monitor and interpret patient data and communicate significant findings to physicians and other medical staff
• Develop and manage individualized nursing care plans and accurately document patient care, assessments, treatments, and progress
• Administer medications using the Five Rights and provide prescribed treatments through appropriate routes
• Manage patients requiring hemodynamic monitoring and vasopressor titration, as well as equipment such as arterial lines, central lines, chest tubes, EVDs, feeding tubes, and mechanical ventilation
• Assist with or perform advanced/invasive procedures within scope of practice, including arterial punctures, pulmonary artery catheter procedures, balloon pump management, temporary pacemakers, and intubations
• Recognize life-threatening conditions and initiate lifesaving measures when a physician is unavailable
• Operate emergency equipment, including defibrillators, EKG machines, and cardiac monitors, and participate in Rapid Response, resuscitation, or emergency code teams as required
• Provide patient and family education and serve as a patient advocate
• Provide direct patient care, including positioning, lifting, transporting, hygiene, feeding, and other supportive care
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and multidisciplinary healthcare providers and participate in patient-care conferences and discharge planning
• Follow infection-control, safety, quality assurance, and risk-management requirements
• Assist with appropriate procedures involving tissue/skin banks and organ donation
• Help manage staffing resources and redistribute personnel based on changing patient-care needs
• Maintain professionalism, composure, and effective communication when dealing with patients, families, and difficult or stressful situations
• Respond quickly and effectively to emergencies such as cardiac/respiratory arrest, hemorrhage, shock, severe trauma, and psychiatric emergencies
