Qualifications

  • Unrestricted CT Medical License or eligible.
  • PA or ACNP training completed.
  • 1+ years in a critical care setting as APP; neurocritical care preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine examinations and formulate medical plans within ICU.
  • Collaborate with care team and consultants to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Provide patient and family education and coordinate care transitions.

Manchester Memorial Hospital is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join a strong, collaborative team of Critical Care Intensivists.The successful candidate will provide holistic, high quality care to critically ill patients admitted to the critical care unit. With your comprehensive knowledge of acute critical care conditions, diagnostics & treatments, you will be expected to diagnose, treat, and manage acute & chronic diseases, perform procedures, order and interpret diagnostic tests, speak to patients & families about their conditions, and collaborate with a variety of consultants.

Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants Role Scope

Under established guidelines and in collaboration and/or supervision with the practice physician(s), Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants perform routine physical examinations, and formulate medical, educational, and psychosocial plans to treat patients.

In consultation with the physician(s) and care team members, Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants develop plans for further evaluation of health needs, e.g., referral to other health team members or specialists.

Nurse Practitioners or Physician Assistants provide appropriate treatment for problems within the scope of the provider’s practice as designated by protocols and identifies problems outside of their scope of practice and refers appropriately to physician.

Requirements
  • Licensure: Unrestricted State of Connecticut Medical License (or eligible)
  • Training: Physician Assistant or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner
  • Experience: 1+ years as an advanced practice provider in a critical care setting. Neurocritical care experience highly preferred.
