Job summary

AdventHealth in Fruitland Park, FL is seeking a Critical Care Paramedic for full-time transport duties. You will provide advanced patient care on EMS transports, assess needs, and implement interventions per protocols.

You will monitor patients, educate families, inspect equipment, and maintain readiness throughout each shift. Required licensure as a Paramedic with CDL/DL and BLS/ACLS/PALS/NRP; 5+ years of transport experience and driving passenger vehicles are preferred.

Qualifications

• Requires Paramedic license and CDL/DL with current BLS/ACLS/PALS/NRP.
• 1+ advanced life support transport experience required.
• 5+ advanced life support transport experience preferred.
• 5+ years driving passenger vehicles required.
• Education may include UMBC UF AdventHealth EMS Critical Care Paramedic curriculum or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Provides primary patient care on transports within EMS scope.
• Assesses, plans, and implements interventions as per protocols.
• Monitors and communicates patient conditions during transport.
• Educates patients and families about illnesses and interventions.
• Inspects equipment and ensures safety of the transport team.
• Maintains readiness and inventories supplies each shift.
• Ensures accurate patient and department documentation.

Job Description:

• Schedule:12 hours per shift Shift: 6:00 am-6:00 pm
• Provides primary patient care activities on transports approved within scope of practice as defined by EMS Medical Director.
• Assesses, plans, implements intervention, and evaluates the appropriate level of patient care according to scope of practice, EMS Protocols, department policies and procedures.
• Monitors, records, and communicates patient conditions and treatments, as appropriate.
• Educates patients and family members about patient illnesses and clinical interventions.
• Inspects and maintains equipment to ensure the safety of transport team members, patients, and the general public.
• Monitors and anticipates needs for additional equipment and appropriately secures tools to meet patient care demands during transport.
• Operates emergency vehicles safely in a variety of weather and emergent conditions in accordance with established safety standards.
• Maintains the unit in a constant state of readiness and completes medication, supplies, and equipment inventories each shift, restocking as needed.
• Ensures patient and departmental documentation is accurate, complete, and in compliance at all times.
• Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Basic computer skills [Required]

Education:

• Associate [Preferred]
• Bachelor's [Preferred]
• Field of Study: of Science in health-related field.
• Successful completion of UMBC, University of Florida, AdventHealth EMS Critical Care Paramedic curriculum, or AdventHealth University Critical Care Paramedic curriculum OR Critical Care Paramedic certification (CCEMT-P, CICP, UF CCP, FP-C, CCP-C).

Required Work Experience:

• 1+ advanced life support transport experience. [Required]
• 3+ critical care transport experience. [Preferred]
• 5+ advanced life support transport experience [Preferred]
• 5+ driving passenger vehicles [Required]
