As a Critical Care Nurse in the U.S. Navy Nurse Corps, you’ll provide expert care to critically ill patients, including service members, their families, and veterans. Serving in diverse environments—from Navy medical facilities to humanitarian missions worldwide—you will gain invaluable experience while serving your country. You’ll have the opportunity to work with leading medical professionals, cutting-edge technology, and in high-acuity settings like ICUs and Post-Anesthesia Recovery Rooms.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide Advanced Care: Deliver critical care in high-acuity settings, including ICUs and Post-Anesthesia Recovery Rooms.
  • Collaborate with Experts: Work closely with physicians, surgeons, and other specialists to create and implement comprehensive treatment plans.
  • Mentor Hospital Corpsmen: Lead and guide hospital corpsmen in delivering top-quality patient care.
  • Participate in Humanitarian Missions: Assist with global relief efforts, providing critical care during international crises and natural disasters.
  • Utilize Cutting-Edge Technology: Work with state-of-the-art medical technologies like Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) to enhance patient care and reduce administrative tasks.

The Navy offers scholarships, sign-on bonuses, loan repayment assistance, and other financial support programs. Experienced critical care nurses can qualify for sign-on bonuses depending on service commitments.

Educational Assistance: Loan repayment for graduate students in Maternal and Infant Nursing specialties serving part-time in the Navy Reserve.

Requirements:

  • U.S. Citizen, aged 18-41
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) License (new graduates must obtain within one year of beginning service)
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited program
  • Willingness to serve a minimum of 3 years of Active Duty
  • Physical Requirements: Must pass a full medical examination and meet Navy physical fitness standards
