Position Overview

This role provides emergent and urgent care to critically ill patients across various specialties, including general surgery, cardiology, and medical services. The Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner will be credentialed according to Luminis Health regulations, supervised by an attending physician, and responsible to the Critical Care Medical Director. The role involves ensuring adherence to medical standards, quality initiatives, and ICU processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate critically ill patients in ICU/IMU, ED, recovery room, and on medical/surgical services.
  • Provide emergent and urgent care, perform physical exams, and write orders.
  • Monitor patient progress, interpret tests, and document findings.
  • Recommend therapeutic interventions and consult with specialists.
  • Perform procedures such as intubation, central line placement, and lumbar puncture.
  • Participate in team rounding, M&M sessions, and educational activities.
  • Collaborate with nursing and medical staff, and contribute to research and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Assist in patient transfers and facilitate effective communication among healthcare professionals.
  • Supervise staff and students as appropriate.

Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program.
  • At least 2 years of clinical experience as a Nurse Practitioner.
  • Maryland CRNP license and current certification.
  • CPR certification from AHA.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
Working Conditions

Potential exposure to blood-borne pathogens. Medium physical effort required, including lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally. Reasonable accommodations will be provided as needed.
