UT Health San Antonio is seeking outstanding critical care physicians for a faculty position serving University Hospital. The role emphasizes patient care, teaching, and scholarly activity in a growing ECMO-enabled program.

The department seeks candidates with strong clinical skills, teamwork, and a commitment to education for residents, fellows, and medical students across an expanding critical care service.

Qualifications

• MD, DO, or foreign equivalent degree.
• Board certification or board eligibility in critical care medicine through an approved primary specialty board.
• Active critical care practice within the past 12 months.
• Texas medical license or eligibility to obtain one.
• Valid DEA registration or eligibility to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Provide critical care for patients at University Hospital, Audie L. Murphy Veterans Administration Hospital, and other clinical venues as developed.
• Participate in call coverage consistent with departmental and service expectations.
• Supervise and direct patient care provided by advanced practice providers, residents, fellows, and medical students.
• Participate in the multidisciplinary care of complex cardiothoracic, transplant, advanced cardiovascular, and ECMO patients.
• Contribute to resident, fellow, medical student, and advanced practice provider education through bedside teaching, lectures, simulation, and/or workshops.
• Participate in administrative duties, quality improvement, committee service, and other academic activities as assigned.
• Pursue scholarly activity and professional development appropriate to an academic faculty position.
