Position Overview

Virtua Anesthesia is seeking a skilled and dedicated Critical Care Anesthesiologist to join our dynamic and growing team. This position will provide anesthesia services in critical care settings, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and managing complex patient cases requiring intensive care and anesthesia support.

The ideal candidate will have expertise in critical care medicine, anesthesia, and advanced airway management, alongside a compassionate, patient-centered approach.

Responsibilities:

1. Administer anesthesia and provide perioperative care for critically ill patients across various clinical settings, including the ICU and surgical operating rooms.
2. Work collaboratively with surgeons, intensivists, and other healthcare providers to deliver comprehensive, high-quality care to critically ill patients.
3. Monitor and manage vital signs, airway, and other aspects of anesthesia care in critically ill patients, adjusting as necessary to ensure patient safety.
4. Perform preoperative assessments, including risk stratification and planning, to optimize patients for anesthesia and surgery.
5. Respond to emergency situations and provide resuscitative measures, including advanced airway management and pharmacological interventions.
6. Assist in the management of patients with complex medical conditions, including organ failure, multi-system trauma, and post-surgical recovery.
7. Provide teaching and mentoring for residents, fellows, and other healthcare team members.
8. Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and clinical research within the department.
9. Participate in on-call rotation and weekend coverage as required.

Qualifications:

1. Medical Degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution.
2. Board Certified or Board Eligible in Anesthesiology.
3. Fellowship training in Critical Care Medicine.
4. License to practice medicine in the state of New Jersey or eligibility to obtain licensure.
5. Strong background in critical care, anesthesia techniques, and advanced airway management.
6. Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
7. Ability to make quick, informed decisions in high-pressure, emergent situations.
8. Compassionate, patient-centered approach to care.

Preferred Skills:

1. Expertise in managing complex, high-risk surgical patients.
2. Familiarity with clinical research and academic settings.
