Carilion Clinic in Roanoke, Virginia, and Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine seek a fellowship-trained Critical Care Anesthesiologist to join our growing academic practice.

This faculty role offers teaching and mentorship of learners, with collaboration on clinical and translational research through the Fralin Biomedical Research Institute at VTC and support for developing Carilion's inaugural Anesthesiology Residency Program.

Qualifications

• MD or DO from an accredited institution.
• Completion of an ACGME-accredited Critical Care Fellowship.
• ABA Board Certified or Board Eligible.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert anesthetic and critical care management for complex surgical and critically ill patients.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement comprehensive patient care plans.
• Perform pre-operative assessments and perioperative planning.
• Participate in ICU patient management and multidisciplinary rounds.
• Mentor medical students, residents, and fellows while helping build Carilion's new residency program.
• Opportunity to participate in scholarly activities, quality improvement, and research opportunities.

Carilion Clinic Department of Anesthesiology and Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine (VTCSOM) seek a fellowship-trained Critical Care Anesthesiologist to join our growing academic practice.

This is an exceptional opportunity to join our department during an exciting period of growth as we launch a new Anesthesiology Residency Program beginning in Summer 2027. As a faculty member, you will play an integral role in shaping the future of anesthesiology education while helping expand critical care services within one of Virginia's premier academic health systems.

Practice at Carilion Medical Center (CMC), a 753-bed tertiary academic medical center and one of the region's busiest Level I Adult and Pediatric Trauma Centers, featuring 49 anesthetizing locations and NORA suites. Physicians practice in a collaborative environment dedicated to clinical excellence, innovation, multidisciplinary care, and outstanding patient outcomes.

The position includes a faculty appointment with Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine at the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Research collaboration with the Fralin Biomedical Research Institute at VTC is encouraged and supported.

Benefits

Salary Range $580,000.00 - $650,000.00

The posted salary range may not reflect the full value of the total compensation package. You are eligible to participate in the Tier 1 and Tier 2 bonus compensation programs to improve the minimum salary.

Historical averages of Tier 1 and Tier 2 bonus earnings are included in the maximum salary In addition, comprehensive benefits and pension offerings further enhance the overall rewards package.
