Job summary

OSF HealthCare in Peoria, IL is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA) to deliver critical care for acutely ill adults. You will join an interdisciplinary ICU team, collaborating with physicians and nurses to provide evidence-based care.

The role includes evaluating illnesses, ordering tests, prescribing treatments, and performing invasive procedures. 12-hour shifts, weekend rotation, and a $10,000 sign-on are offered.

Qualifications

• Licensed as an Advanced Practice Nurse in Illinois or as a Physician Assistant under state practice acts.
• DEA registration to prescribe controlled substances, if applicable.
• BLS/ACLS certification.
• ACNP certification.
• 2+ years of critical care patient management experience.
• Eligible to participate in OSF programs for professional malpractice and other liability coverage.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and treat acute illnesses and injuries in critically ill adults.
• Order and interpret diagnostic and laboratory tests.
• Prescribe pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatments.
• Perform invasive procedures per established protocols.
• Assess and manage new admissions to the critical care unit.
• Provide expert education, consultation, and patient advocacy.

JOB SPECIFICS

• The Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) demonstrates the knowledge and clinical expertise necessary to manage the care of critically ill adult patients.
• The APP functions as an integral member of the interdisciplinary critical care team, working in close collaboration with physicians, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality, evidence-based care.
• Responsibilities include evaluating and treating acute illnesses and injuries, ordering and interpreting diagnostic and laboratory tests, prescribing pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatments, and performing invasive procedures in accordance with established protocols, policies, and evidence-based practice standards.
• The APP participates in the assessment and management of new admissions to the critical care unit and provides expert education, consultation, and patient advocacy to ensure optimal outcomes.
• 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week, 3rd shift nights, 7p – 7a, 5 out of every 6 weekends required

• Full-time, clinical base hourly pay range for this position: $60.39-$68.10. Plus weekend premium. This position is paid hourly.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Licensed to provide either advanced practice nursing services in the State of Illinois as issued by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation in accordance with the Illinois Nurse Practice Act OR physician assistant services as issued by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation in accordance with the Illinois Physician Assistant Practice Act of 1987.
• Licensed by the Federal Drug Enforcement Administration and the State of Illinois to prescribe narcotics, if applicable.
• BLS/ACLS Certified.
• Certification as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP)
• 2+ years of critical care patient management experience
• Must be eligible as a provider for Medicare, Medicaid, and other federal health programs.
• Provider shall meet all qualifications to participate in OSF's programs for professional malpractice and other liability coverage.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care aligned to the preferences, goals, and needs of the patients served.
