Job summary

Stars Behavioral Health Group is seeking a Peer Support Counselor for our Joshua Tree: Morongo Oasis Crisis Residential Treatment program. The role leverages lived experience to provide outreach, engagement, advocacy, and direct services to adults in crisis, within a short-term residential setting.

The position offers Mon-Fri hours, starting compensation $18.00–$21.00 per hour, and comprehensive benefits including employer-paid medical, dental, and vision coverage.

Qualifications

• Lived experience as a consumer in mental health or related systems.
• High School Diploma or equivalent (GED/HiSET).
• Full-time experience in consumer-directed services (1 year preferred).
• Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialist Certification preferred or ability to obtain within one year.
• Valid California Driver's License with clean driving record.
• First Aid certification from an approved provider or upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide outreach, engagement, support, advocacy, and direct services to CRT clients.
• Serve as role models, companions, educators, and advocates for clients.
• Support clients in moving toward recovery and meaningful participation in life.
