Job summary

Guilford County Government is seeking an Adult Protective Services Social Worker to deliver social work services to adults identified as abuse victims or potential victims. You will assess strengths, needs, safety and family support systems under supervision.

The role focuses on direct and indirect casework with adults needing protective services, including crisis response and collaboration with courts, law enforcement and medical professionals. A social work background is essential.

Qualifications

• MSW required or equivalent in social work.
• Bachelor’s degree in a human service field and two years of related experience.
• BSW – Child Welfare Collaborative preferred.
• Must have possession of an appropriate driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Provide social work services to adults identified as victims or potential victims of abuse, neglect, exploitation or dependency as defined by NC statutes.
• Conduct thorough assessments of strengths, needs, safety and family support systems.
• Coordinate with services, court, and community partners to ensure protective actions when needed.
• Respond to crisis situations with immediate action and appropriate follow-up.
• Recruit and train foster/adoptive resources when applicable.
