Job summary

HAVEN in Michigan seeks a Residential Crisis Line and Support Specialist to staff the shelter front desk and answer the 24-hour Crisis and Support Line, providing compassionate, trauma-informed assistance and referrals to survivors seeking help and resources.

The role includes documenting every contact, coordinating resources, and collaborating with other HAVEN programs to ensure resident safety and positive outcomes, with evening/weekend availability and active participation in meetings.

Qualifications

• BA or BS in Human Services or equivalent experience in helping adults/children.
• 1 year experience in advocacy, shelter, or trauma-informed work preferred.
• Knowledge of domestic and sexual violence and community resources.

Responsibilities

• Provide crisis-intervention, support, and resources to callers on the 24‑hour Crisis and Support Line.
• Respond to Crisis and Support Line chats and attend to walk-ins with referrals.
• Document calls/chats, review logs, and maintain resource materials.
• Assist in training staff, volunteers, and interns; present program overviews.
• Engage with community meetings to expand resource networks and survivor outcomes.
