Job summary

Chestnut Health Systems Inc. is seeking a compassionate Crisis Intervention Specialist for a part-time, as-needed role across St. Clair, Randolph, Perry, Clinton, Washington, and surrounding counties in Illinois.

You will provide crisis intervention, safety planning, and connections to community resources, with a focus on trauma‑informed care and recovery support.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in a related field.
• Master’s degree is acceptable with <1,000 hours supervised mental health experience.
• Valid driver’s license and insurability required.
• Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat, and EMR.

Responsibilities

• Deliver crisis intervention services, including assessments, safety planning, and referrals.
• Complete documentation promptly—100% assessments and safety plans; 80% progress notes within 24 hours.
• Support individuals through court-ordered assessments, group services, and case management.
• Use recovery‑oriented language and practices that emphasize hope, empowerment, and self‑direction.
• Collaborate with hospitals, law enforcement, and natural support systems to maintain community relationships.
• Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and supervision sessions.
• Provide after‑hours crisis support as assigned.
• Maintain confidentiality and uphold customer service standards.

Education

Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and skilledCrisis Intervention Specialist to join our team. This part‑time position will work on an as‑needed basis throughout St. Clair, Randolph, Perry, Clinton, Washington, Monroe Counties. This role is essential in supporting individuals during moments of emotional crisis, promoting recovery through trauma‑informed care, and connecting people to vital community resources. Preference will be given to applicants who live within these counties.

The anticipated starting pay for new hires for this position is between $21.00 - $22.00 an hour.

Shift Differential: Evening, overnight, and weekend shifts qualify for extra pay.

• Use recovery‑oriented language and practices that emphasize hope, empowerment, and self‑direction.
• Collaborate with hospitals, law enforcement, and natural support systems to maintain strong community relationships.
• Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and supervision sessions.
• Provide after‑hours crisis support as assigned.
• Maintain confidentiality and uphold the organization’s standards for customer service excellence.

Qualifications

• Must have a bachelor’s degree and 5 years’ supervised mental health experience;
• Or a master’s degree in counseling, psychology, social work or related field with less than 1,000 hours of supervised mental health experience.
• Valid driver’s license, private auto insurance, and insurability.
• Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat, and electronic medical records (EMR).
