Job summary

DHSS is seeking a Crisis Intervention Specialist II to support clients with severe mental illness and substance use issues. The role involves counseling, crisis response, and collaboration with an interdisciplinary team to promote recovery goals.

You will be essential personnel, required to work a rotating schedule including nights and weekends, and may need to respond during emergencies while maintaining client safety and confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Behavioral or Social Science or related field.
• Credentialed Mental Health Screener (CMHS) or eligible.
• Three years’ experience in case management including planning and evaluating services.
• Two years’ experience in crisis intervention, clinical treatment, or counseling.

Responsibilities

• Delivers crisis intervention services and initiates appropriate clinical response in line with laws and best practices.
• Answers crisis hot-line calls and provides on-site assessments and mobile crisis response.
• Conducts rapid mental health screening and evaluations in crisis situations.
• Uses de-escalation techniques to ensure safety of clients and staff.
• Provides guidance and education on crisis interventions and available resources.
