Responsibilties
- Provides safe and knowledgeable intervention in crisis situations under the supervision of the RN, to ensure safe and consistent quality of care.
- Takes initiative to identify and intervene in crisis situations using appropriate de-escalation and/or other modes of crisis management according to the Behavior Management Policy.
- Able to assess the environment, target potential crisis situations, and intervene in a calm, safe, supportive manner.
- Responds to all emergencies as trained and directed (First Aid, Code Blue, Code Red and Code Triage).
- Assists with unit secretary and mental health technician duties as directed.
- Participates in the orientation of new staff.
- Teaches Handle With Care and de-escalation techniques to staff, under the supervision of the CIS Coordinator.
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs.
- Minimum of 3 years experience providing direct care in a behavioral health setting.
- Must be able to safely operate Carrier Clinic vehicles and transport residents/patients.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient computer skills that may include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.
- Must be able to act with urgency and move 200 lb patient / resident / student with assistance.
- Must have flexibility to work any shift, as needed.
- Associate's degree in health related field.
- Valid Driver's License.
- AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification or completed in the first 90 days of employment.
