Job Description: Roving Crisis Case Manager (Level 3)

Program Overview

The IRC's Home Study and Post-Release Services (HSPRS) for unaccompanied children in the U.S. operates in more than 17 offices nationwide. This is a 36-month project ending on September 30, 2026, with ambitious delivery goals.

Goals of the Program
  1. Assess the safety and suitability of sponsors before children are released from custody (Home Study).
  2. Provide case management support through remote and in-home visits to ensure children's safety and stability, linking them to community resources (Post Release Services).
Position Summary

The Roving Crisis Case Manager (Level 3) conducts Home Studies to evaluate potential sponsors and provides intensive post-release services focusing on children with specific challenges. Responsibilities include developing service plans, utilizing various intervention strategies, and ensuring child safety and well-being.

Major Responsibilities
  • Conduct initial in-home assessments and weekly in-person contacts for the first 45-60 days, transitioning to remote services with monthly visits as needs stabilize.
  • Develop individualized, trauma-informed service plans.
  • Perform comprehensive assessments and prepare reports within 10 days of referral.
  • Continuously monitor behavioral and environmental changes impacting safety and well-being.
  • Provide crisis intervention and coordinate with Child Protective Services, law enforcement, and stakeholders.
  • Lead or support cases involving safety concerns, suicidal attempts, trafficking, etc.
  • Facilitate referrals to legal, medical, educational, and community services.
  • Document all case activities accurately and timely in case files and databases.
  • Build relationships with community service providers.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to trauma-informed, child-centered approaches.
Job Requirements
  • Master's degree in social work, psychology, or relevant behavioral sciences.
  • Fluency in Spanish and English (written and verbal).
  • At least two years of case management experience, including assessments, service planning, and documentation.
  • Experience working with children, families, and immigrant populations; experience with unaccompanied minors preferred.
  • Knowledge of local social services and navigating social systems.
  • Ability to manage complex cases, prioritize tasks, and work independently.
  • Willingness to travel up to 80%, including evenings and weekends.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Teams, Zoom, and related platforms.
  • Clearance and background checks as required by the Office of Refugee Resettlement.
