Job summary

Connections Health Solutions is seeking a Behavioral Health Specialist to support the safety and well‑being of patients and staff in a crisis unit. You will conduct vital signs assessments, assist with daily needs, and document care in the EHR to ensure high standards of care.

Responsibilities include coordinating admission procedures, providing unit orientation, and using therapeutic de‑escalation techniques. Strong emphasis on safety, documentation, and customer service in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

• 1 year of behavioral health or relevant experience.
• Experience using Electronic Health Records (EHR) and proficiency with basic computer applications.
• Willingness to comply with the Company’s vaccination policy.
• Ability to pass Virginia DBHDS background check and VA DSS background checks.
• Ability to obtain a Virginia Food Handler’s Card (where applicable).

Responsibilities

• Conduct security screening and inventories property upon admission to the unit.
• Provide orientation to the Observation Unit and Residential Crisis Stabilization Unit.
• Educate individuals on rights, regulations, grievance processes, and rules.
• Maintain unit safety and document individuals every 15 minutes.
• Intervene with escalated individuals using de‑escalation techniques and restraints if needed.
• Perform 1-to-1 monitoring during seclusion or restraints as required.
• Lift, move, and transport individuals with proper body mechanics.
• Assist individuals with activities of daily living.
• Document vitals and interactions in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
• Maintain cleanliness of the facility and complete required trainings.
