Job summary

Connections Health Solutions is hiring a Behavioral Health Specialist for full-time night shifts in Harrisburg, PA. The role focuses on maintaining safety and wellbeing of individuals and staff within the unit, conducting vital signs, assisting with daily activities, and documenting services in the EHR.

You will greet visitors, manage security, provide orientation to units, and de-escalate escalated situations while following state regulations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and at least 12 semester credit hours in Sociology, Social Welfare, Psychology, Gerontology, or another social science field and two years of public/private human services experience, including one year of direct mental health care.
• Three years of direct mental health care experience in public/private human services.
• Consumer or family members with at least one year of experience as an advocate or leader in a consumer/family advocacy group.

Responsibilities

• Registration and Documentation: Collect authorizations and release of information; document all services and interactions in the EHR.
• Visitor Management: Greet visitors, ensure security, monitor logbook, issue badges.
• Safety and Security: Conduct security screenings, educate about rights and rules, maintain unit safety, de-escalate situations and use restraints when needed.
• Direct Care Support: Assist with activities of daily living; lift/move individuals; document vital signs, BAL, urine tests; report results.
• Legal and Compliance: Attend court hearings, serve as witness, provide testimony as needed.
• Facility Maintenance: Clean facilities, handle linens, launder clothing; ensure hygiene.
• Collaboration with Clinical Team: Communicate concerns about psychiatric/medical presentation to discipline.
• Involuntary Process Assistance: Assist with 302 process and cross-department communication.
