Job summary

Portsmouth Regional Hospital is seeking a Behavioral Health Crisis PARS Clinician to join a 32-hour-per-week evenings schedule across six Emergency Departments. The role involves psychiatric triage, assessments, and coordination with psychiatry for treatment plans and dispositions.

You will work closely with behavioral health nursing, psychiatry, and ED staff to ensure safe, efficient patient flow and referrals, including transfers and crisis interventions as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Social Work (BSW) or related field required.
• 1-3 years of relevant work experience preferred.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• Nonviolent Crisis Intervention must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.

Responsibilities

• Respond to callers and patients in the ED with behavioral health concerns.
• Complete biopsychosocial assessments and determine level of care promptly.
• Provide information on behavioral health resources for treatment to patients and families.
• Assist with involuntary emergency admissions and court processes as needed.
• Coordinate transfers and consult with medical teams on patient evaluations.
• Apply de-escalation techniques and obtain informed consent.
