Responsibilities

• Coordinates and supervises the Solicitor’s Office activities to ensure efficient prosecution of cases.
• Supervises subordinate support staff; trains, assigns, reviews and plans work.
• Interprets and applies complex legal issues within office policy and ethics guidelines.
• Reviews criminal incident reports from local law enforcement agencies for Richland County.
• Prepares and tries criminal cases, indictments, motions, and court documents; negotiates with attorneys.
• Assists in investigations, including crime scenes, witness interviews and evidence examination.
• Supports victim advocates to ensure compliance with the Victim’s Bill of Rights.
• Responds to public inquiries and coordinates with other departments and agencies.
