The North Carolina Department of Justice, led by the Attorney General of North Carolina, represents the state, state agencies, and elected officials, and defends the rights of the people of North Carolina. The Department handles all state criminal appeals cases and assists district attorneys with complex criminal cases at their request. Additionally, the Department of Justice includes the North Carolina State Crime Lab, the North Carolina Justice Academy, and the Sheriffs’ and Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Divisions.
Recruitment Range: $57,983 - $83,700 IMPORTANT NOTE: This posting closes at 11:59:59 PM the night BEFORE the End Date listed. The position leads the In-service and Online Training development team responsible for supporting the Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission and the Sheriffs’ Education and Training Standards Commission mandates. The team is responsible for over 290,000 online training completions across Law Enforcement, Detention, and Telecommunications personnel in North Carolina. The position supervises twelve (12) team members in various positions in support of these projects. This position leads the team members in the development, delivery, and continuous improvement of training programs that support the organizational goals and comply with regulatory commission standards. This role oversees the creation and revision of training curricula, ensuring content remains current, relevant, and effective for adult learners. This position provides direction to instructional staff by guiding lesson plan development, adjusting training schedules, and managing performance through established work plans, regular reviews, coaching, and formal evaluations. This position also serves as a key liaison to client agencies, maintaining strong relationships through ongoing communication, assessment of training needs, and coordination of technical assistance. This position ensures the timely submission of required administrative documentation, oversees course scheduling, reviews training evaluations, and guides curriculum updates and the development of new courses in accordance with Academy procedures. This role supports both strategic and operational priorities by aligning personnel management, customer relations, and project oversight to guarantee the delivery of high-quality training. This position works closely with the Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission, the Joint Mandatory In-service Training Committee, and the Sheriffs’ Education and Training Standards Commission. Some travel, including some occasional overnight stays are required. The selected candidate is subject to a background investigation.
Experience working with Commissions, Committees, or Advisory Groups. Experience designing and developing statewide training curriculum. Certified Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Instructor.
