Job summary

Garfield County is seeking a qualified professional to provide security and rehabilitation services within the Criminal Justice Services Department. You will conduct case management activities, assess client needs, and develop plans to transition clients back into the community.

Non-supervisory role with responsibilities including documentation, safety duties, and collaboration with probation, parole, and court stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Experience in case management and coordination of treatment referrals.
  • Familiarity with Motivational Interviewing techniques and crisis support.
  • Ability to document progress notes and reports accurately.

Hiring pay range: $25.83 - $31.64

Full pay range: $25.83 - $37.45

General Purpose Of Job

Provides security & rehabilitation services to sentenced offenders. Conducts case management activity within the Criminal Justice Services Department to assess client needs and develop and implement strategies to prepare clients to transition back into their community. Monitors safety and security activities within the Residential Division.

Essential Job Functions

Criminal Justice Case Management
  • Conducts case management activities with assigned clients, including initial orientation, case management classification assessment, development of Supervision Plan, activity checklist, monthly budget review, pre-parole plan, weekly individual and group progress, problem solving and counseling sessions, crisis intervention, verifications and initiation and follow-up of treatment referrals. Receives and processes monthly treatment reports from all vendors for each client. Will be trained in and expected to utilize Motivational Interviewing skills effectively.
  • Complete and maintain required certifications related to crisis intervention, motivational interviewing and other certifications required by the State of Colorado's Division of Criminal Justice.
  • Initiates and maintains accurate current and complete case documentation, including arrival and termination reports, performance review summaries, monthly progress reports, chronological case notes and log, incident reports, affidavits, court reports, and other written documents and correspondence.
  • Conducts safety and security activities, including random client pat-searches, room and facility searches and inspections, vehicle searches, supervision and collection of urine specimens, verification of client locations and activities in and outside the facility, resident counts, and emergency drills consistent with Department policies.
  • Observes, supervises, and interacts with residents individually and in groups throughout the facility to assess present location and behavior, compliance with facility rules, completion of daily chores, appropriateness of guest visits and sign-out accuracy.
  • Ensures that individuals and team meet goals and provide the highest level of service, while acting and presenting in a professional manner. May represent GCCC and its clients with Probation, in Parole Board Hearings and Court Proceedings. Will frequently interact with members of the public sector, (vendors, family).
  • Attends and participates in disciplinary, classification, case manager, residential and Department staff meetings.
  • May assist in providing technological support and coverage to the Work-Ender and Useful Public Services programs.
  • Drive County vehicles to perform one or more essential job functions.
  • Observe safety precautions and use County equipment property in a safe and professional manner.
  • When a local declaration of emergency or disaster is declared by the Board of Commissioners, all Garfield County employees may be required to work as a Disaster Service Worker.

  • Criminal Justice Expertise: Possesses knowledge of constitutional case law and Colorado criminal laws related to residential programs and judicial proceedings, with a strong understanding of criminal justice, corrections and probation principles, procedures, and trends.
