Job summary

Arnold Ventures is seeking a Manager, Criminal Justice Policy to identify, analyze, develop, and pitch high-leverage grant opportunities, while managing investments and engaging diverse stakeholders in research, policy, and advocacy. Based in NYC or DC, this role reports to the VP of Criminal Justice.

The position offers exposure to a wide range of policy issues, with the chance to advance evidence‑based solutions and build a strong network in the field.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in public policy, criminology, economics or related field or equivalent experience.
• 4 years of relevant work experience in policy, advocacy, or research roles.
• Knowledge of policy, research, and legislative developments in criminal justice.
• Excellent listening and communication skills, ability to convey complex ideas clearly.

Responsibilities

• Identify, analyze, develop, and pitch high‑impact policy and grant opportunities aligned with AV’s strategy.
• Manage grants and investments, track progress, assess impact, and extract lessons for strategy.
• Provide guidance to grantees on project design, metrics, and implementation plans.
• Develop and manage relationships with policymakers, practitioners, researchers, and advocates.
• Analyze legislation and policy developments; draft summaries, talking points, and materials for decision‑making.
• Support stakeholder convenings, briefings, and learning opportunities to advance team goals.
• Travel as needed to engage with grantees and partners and to support policy work.
• Other duties to support the team’s work.
