Job summary

State of Florida is hiring a CRIMINAL JUSTICE INFORMATION CONSULTANT I in Tallahassee. Under CJIS Manager I, you will assist with administration of ASU processes, systems, and projects, monitor databases, and ensure data security.

NCIC/FCIC certification is required and you will analyze laws and procedures affecting dissemination of criminal justice data. You will provide recommendations, liaise with agencies, and manage requests for criminal history information.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of general office procedures and practices.
• Knowledge of the Office of Financial Management payment processing procedures.
• Ability to record, collect, evaluate, and analyze data.
• Ability to organize files, records, and/or other materials.
• Ability to sort data alphabetically, numerically, and categorically.
• Ability to operate personal computers and other office equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret law enforcement data.
• Ability to follow instructions.
• Ability to review data for accuracy and completeness; and
• Ability to read and interpret state statutes.

Responsibilities

• Providing assistance and recommendations related to multiple ASU-related processes, systems, and special projects;
• Delivering administrative, operational, and technical expertise and support related to processes and assists with requirements gathering, testing, and implementation of new systems and updates;
• Providing ongoing quality assurance by identifying problem trends and recommending workable resolutions for ASU-related processes and systems;
• Evaluating and analyzing incoming requests and applies state and federal rules, laws and procedures to formulate a recommendation and ensure compliance with agency requirements;
• Providing bill analysis in effort to evaluate any potential impact to the section and ASU-related systems;
• Processing cases that require extensive research and applies relevant laws, policies, and procedures to ensure accuracy;
• Determining eligibility for incoming customer requests pursuing authorization to obtain national criminal history information;
• Maintaining liaison with local, state, and federal criminal justice agencies, other criminal justice agencies outside the State of Florida, non-criminal justice agencies, and the general public;
• Providing management consultant services and assistance to criminal justice and non-criminal justice customers; and
• Reviewing and processing requests for criminal history information for general public, statutorily mandated entities, and those authorized by state and federal law.
