Job summary

City of South Jordan Police Department is seeking a Full-Time Criminal Investigative Analyst to support investigations through intelligence analysis, digital evidence review, and information sharing.

The ideal candidate will identify trends and leads, prepare briefs for detectives and prosecutors, and coordinate with partner agencies while maintaining strict confidentiality of sensitive information.

Qualifications

• Associate degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
• At least two years of related analytical, administrative, criminal justice, research, or law-enforcement experience.
• Equivalent education/experience may be considered.
• Law-enforcement experience preferred.
• Must obtain Bureau of Criminal Identification certification within six months of hire.
• Must obtain Digital Forensic Download certification within twelve months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Analyze criminal intelligence from police reports, criminal databases, social media, intelligence centers, and other authorized sources.
• Identify trends, patterns, associations, and investigative leads that support criminal investigations and crime prevention efforts.
• Prepare intelligence reports, summaries, analytical products, and briefings for detectives, officers, supervisors, prosecutors, and partner agencies.
• Perform digital forensic downloads and review digital evidence in accordance with applicable laws, policies, and investigative procedures.
• Maintain and audit law-enforcement databases and help ensure appropriate access and use.
• Provide training and updates on database use, intelligence resources, legislative changes, and investigative procedures.
• Coordinate with law-enforcement and intelligence partners to exchange authorized information and support investigations.
• Maintain confidential records and sensitive criminal-justice information while ensuring information is shared only with authorized individuals.
