Qualifications

• Minimum of at least 3 years of demonstrated commitment to public defense, racial equity, and social justice with felony experience.
• Litigation experience in pretrial suppression hearings and jury trials.
• Track record of guiding casework, projects and relationships with good judgement.
• Ability to work collaboratively with other members of the office.
• Clear and effective oral and written advocacy with strong organizational skills.
• New York State bar admission or waiver possibility from another jurisdiction.

Responsibilities

• Provide client-centered representation from arraignments through trial or disposition.
• Represent clients at arraignments with bail advocacy and referrals to support services.
• Prepare cases for advocacy, gather information, and research law for effective representation.
• Conduct bail review hearings and writs to secure client liberty after arraignments.
• Coordinate with specialty units (DNA, Digital Forensics, Decarceration, Immigration).
• Review discovery materials and prepare for litigation; participate in hearings and trials.
