Job summary

The Office of the Colorado State Public Defender is seeking an Investigator I to support case preparation by organizing files, gathering information, and coordinating witness interviews. You will work under supervision while learning policy, procedures, and ethical guidelines essential to defense investigations.

As part of a defense team, you will review discovery, assist with subpoenas, and help prepare exhibits for trial.

Responsibilities

• Learns procedures and develops skills in organizing and preparing case files for investigations.
• Prepares for investigations and witness interviews, reviews discovery and meets with attorneys and clients.
• Collaborates with defense team to establish strategy for investigation and interviews.
• Maintains regular communications with attorneys on case status, court dates, and progress.
• Develops thorough documentation of all work performed and ethical considerations.
