Job summary

Jackson County Missouri is seeking a Crime Analyst to support the Prosecutor's Office Crime Strategies Unit by applying statistical modeling to crime data and deriving actionable insights to reduce crime. You will collaborate with law enforcement, community partners and COMBAT funding agencies, using a range of data sources from police reports to GIS maps.

The role requires strong knowledge of statistics, hypothesis development, and the ability to communicate findings to diverse stakeholders;

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required with 3 years of crime analysis, statistical and analytical studies and problem solving; ESRI experience preferred in law enforcement.
• Strong knowledge of statistical methodologies and ability to develop working hypotheses from complex data.
• Experience using ESRI GIS for crime data analysis.

Responsibilities

• Supports Administration and the Crime Strategies Unit by applying statistical modeling to crime data to derive insights on crime patterns and frequency.
• Consider multiple data sources from police reports to mapping and GIS data to recognize trends and develop strategies to reduce crime.
• Collaborate with law enforcement personnel, community, and funding agencies to implement prevention strategies.

Department: Prosecutor Grade: 220 Salary: $28.58/hour Job Duties: Supports COMBAT Administration, the Prosecutor’s Office Crime Strategies Unit, along with criminal justice agencies and community crime prevention activities by applying statistical modeling and quantitative analysis to crime data to derive insights on crime patterns and frequency. In this role, the crime analysts will consider several data sources ranging from police reports to mapping and GIS data to recognize trends and patterns and develop strategies to reduce criminal activities and prevent crime from taking place. Requires an excellent grasp of statistical methodologies, the ability to develop working hypotheses based on complex data, and close collaboration with law enforcement personnel, community, and COMBAT funding agencies to enact crime prevention and proactive intervention and prevention strategies.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree required from an accredited college or university in Criminal Justice, Criminology, Police Administration, Public Administration, Statistics or GIS with a minimum of 15 credits in computer science, information technology, cartography, geography, GIS and three years of crime analysis, statistical and analytical studies and problem solving and experience using ESRI preferably in a law enforcement agency; OR an equivalent combination of experience and training.
• Must submit to and pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen.
