Job summary

The City of Santa Maria Police Department is seeking a Crime Analyst I/II to transform crime and demographic data into actionable information that improves decision-making, crime prevention, and deployment strategies.

The ideal candidate is analytical, innovative, collaborative, and proficient in presenting findings to command staff, investigators, and partners. Relevant law enforcement experience and a related degree are favored.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience as a crime analyst in a law enforcement agency.
• Associate degree or higher in a relevant field; degree preferred.
• Proficient with computers and office software; able to learn new technology.

Responsibilities

• Collects, analyzes, and presents crime, offender, demographic, and related data for resource allocation.
• Develops and generates criminal and investigative reports.
• Provides deployment, prevention and apprehension strategies and programs.
• Analyzes crime patterns and assists in effective allocation of police resources.
• Prepares reports presenting statistical data and delivers oral/written presentations.
• Attends meetings and coordinates with other agencies to obtain crime-related data.
• Upholds department values and customer service orientation.
• Performs other related projects and duties as assigned.
