The Santa Rosa County Sheriff's Office seeks an experienced crime analyst to apply extensive analytical research and GIS methods to national and local datasets. You will collect, evaluate, and analyze intelligence to produce tactical and strategic assessments for dissemination to law enforcement partners.
Responsibilities include preparing reports for FDLE, staff studies for investigations, and supporting the supervisor with administrative tasks.
Serves as analyst using the application of extensive analytical research and interpretive techniques, and the use of numerous investigative, intelligence and informational sources and bases nationwide.
Communicate using speaking, hearing and vision skills, use of data entry equipment; manual dexterity.

Procedures relating to modern practices, principles and methods of the criminal justice system to include major case investigation; procedures relating to the collection and analyzing of intelligence information relating to various criminal activities; various resources, both State and Federal, which produce criminal intelligence in relationship to complex criminal activity or criminal groups.
Type; operate personal computers and networked communication systems; write in a clear, concise, accurate, and well organized manner; communicate with a wide range of individuals needing assistance from various Law Enforcement Agencies. Research skills, writing skills, pattern recognition skills, statistical analysis skills & time management skills. Ability to analyze information. Determine patterns in criminal activity and crime trends using a variety of methods such as interpretation of complex data and application of a variety of statistical methodology in addition to geographical analysis using complex geographical information systems (GIS) techniques. Prepare reports and computerized mapping on crime data and trends.
Graduation from an accredited four year college or university with a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice, Statistics, or a related field in Criminology, Computer Sciences, Sociology, Psychology, Mathematics, Public or Business Administration, and Business Management. Other related fields with course work in computer sciences, statistics, geography or sociology are acceptable. Two years experience performing administrative duties, including two years in data entry and word processing are required.
Preference is given to applicant with experience in automated law enforcement computer systems; statistics and statistical methods of tracking and communicating data; knowledge of Arc View GIS or Geographic Information Systems. Ability to use various types of software programs and spreadsheet computer programs, and experience in crime analysis, intelligence analysis or any equivalent combination of training and experience in a related field is preferred. May require shift work.
Applicant must have a valid Florida Driver's License at the date of hire and maintain said license while employed in this position. May be required to obtain NCIC/FCIC certification within (6) months of hire and maintain certification throughout employment.
Must submit to and pass a thorough background investigation, computer voice stress analyzer examination, and medical exam/drug screen if a new hire.
