$19.00/hr - $21.00/hr

Crew Member (Traveling Position)

Exo is looking for crew members to work in our wood services division. Crew members assist Crew Leaders in the pole inspection process. The Crew Member is responsible for performing a variety of physical tasks and providing support as part of the wood pole inspection and reinforcement teams.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties):

  • Physical Tasks: Perform general manual labor such as lifting, carrying, digging, and moving materials; assist with loading and unloading tools, materials, and equipment at job sites or facilities.
  • Site Preparation and Cleanup: Prepare work areas by setting up safety barriers, removing debris, and organizing tools and materials; maintain clean and hazard-free job sites through routine cleanup practices.
  • Support for Skilled Workers: Assist foremen and skilled tradespeople by providing necessary tools, materials, and task support; follow instructions and develop basic trade skills to contribute to specific job duties.
  • Equipment Operation: Operate basic hand tools, power tools, and light machinery under supervision and direction; ensure proper use of equipment in accordance with safety protocols.
  • Safety Compliance: Follow all safety guidelines and company regulations to maintain a safe work environment; promptly report safety hazards, incidents, or injuries to supervisors.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Communicate clearly and respectfully with team members and supervisors; work collaboratively to complete assigned tasks efficiently and meet project timelines.


Non-Essential Functions (Duties):

  • Participate in safety briefings, training sessions, and toolbox talks as required by project or company policy.
  • Support logistics tasks such as organizing tool storage, monitoring supply inventory, or transporting materials between locations when needed.
  • Contribute to team efforts during special assignments, site relocations, or emergency response efforts, as directed.
  • Assist with documenting job site activities or progress updates when requested by supervisory staff.


Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Previous experience in general labor, construction, manufacturing or related field is preferred.
  • Physical fitness and ability to perform strenuous tasks for extended periods, including walking long distances on uneven terrain while carrying up to 50 lbs.
  • Basic understanding of safety and protocols in a work environment.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
  • Adaptability and willingness to learn new tasks or skills.
  • Strong work ethic and reliability.
  • Ability to perform fieldwork, proficient use of a shovel to excavate.
  • Ability to travel a minimum of 75%.

  • Tool and Equipment Proficiency: Familiarity with the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of digging tools.
  • Basic Engineering Understanding: Knowledge of soil types, excavation techniques, and structural considerations.


Physical Requirements:

  • Strength: Ability to lift, carry, and move heavy objects and equipment.
  • Endurance: Capability to perform physically demanding tasks for extended periods without excessive fatigue.
  • Hand-eye Coordination: Essential for operating machinery and tools accurately.
  • Manual Dexterity: Ability to handle tools and materials skillfully and safely.
  • Flexibility: Ability to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with your body, arms, and/or legs.
  • Balance: Maintaining physical stability while performing tasks, especially on uneven or unstable surfaces.
  • Healthy Back and Joints: Essential due to the repetitive bending, lifting, and carrying.
  • Cardiovascular Health: Good overall physical fitness to handle strenuous activities.


Work Environment:

  • Outdoor work in all weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, wind).
  • Frequently work in remote, rugged, or isolated environments.
  • May be exposed to dust, insects, vegetation, or chemicals during inspections.
  • PPE and safety gear must be worn according to company policy and OSHA standards.


FLSA Exempt: Non-Exempt

Pay Scale: $18.50-20.50 / hour

Reporting To: Field Operations Supervisor

Location: 100% Travel
