Job summary

The City of Greensboro, NC is seeking a Crew Member in Specialized Park Services to install, maintain, and repair playground equipment, conduct safety inspections, and support event setups in our parks. You’ll work outdoors, often in varied weather, as part of a team that serves residents and visitors with pride.

You’ll join a collaborative department that values service, teamwork, and community impact, contributing to vibrant, safe recreation spaces across Greensboro.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Experience with mechanical work and/or carpentry.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and repair City-owned playground equipment.
• Conduct periodic safety inspections of playgrounds and parks.
• Deliver, set up, and take down portable stages for events.
• Assist with special event setups, including moving bleachers and installing barricades.
• Install and repair fences, replace worn sports and playground equipment, and move office furniture.
• Ensure high levels of customer service and communication with internal and external stakeholders.
• Work outside in all weather conditions, including during inclement weather events.
• Be considered "Service Critical", which may require assisting with storm damage cleanup and special events.

This job is Non-Exempt and is subject to the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

What You Bring:

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School Diploma/GED.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
• Experience with mechanical work and/or carpentry.

Preferred Qualifications:

• CDL Class A driver’s license (required within 120 days of employment).
• Certification from the National Playground Safety Institute.
• Experience installing and repairing playground equipment.
• North Carolina Pesticide License Class E & L (required within 1 year of employment).
• Experience moving office furniture.
• Prior experience with driving excessive-weight vehicles with trailers
