This is work assisting the Operations Manager with the guidance and coordination of Park Attendants, contractual attendants, special event coordination at the beaches, training of new staff, handling of maintenance projects such as irrigation repairs, landscaping projects, handling of various record-keeping duties and performing Park Attendant duties as required for county parks, beaches, athletic fields and playgrounds.

Job Description

Oversees the supervision of attendants in the absence of the Operational Manager. Coordinates special events at the beaches with the event staff and operational managers. Performs attendant duties cleaning the beaches, picnic areas, parking lots, playgrounds, open areas at County parks, restroom facilities, athletic fields, playgrounds. Conducts quality inspections at park locations.

Operates light automotive equipment, ball field equipment, light landscape equipment and hand tools.

Coordinating equipment assignments to complete assigned tasks and gives subordinates instructions on small types of equipment. Example, small tractor, trash truck, small pickup truck and club car for daily operations at the beaches or for special events.

Inspects equipment and makes determinations on the job site on how to utilize equipment and workforce in the absence of the Operational Manager and instructs subordinates in safety practices and proper procedures for work.

Acts as liaison with clubs, organizations, and other users of public parks, beaches and athletic facilities to ensure proper maintenance and preparation is scheduled and performed.

Keeps operating records, completes material requests, service requests and work orders. Keeps schedule of maintenance for assigned area(s). Performs daily safety checks.

Checks grounds for safety issues, irrigation leaks or landscaping issues, fallen limbs, yard debris.

Work Hours: Tuesday - Saturday 12:30 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. (Off Sunday & Monday)

About You

Minimum Qualifications: A High School Diploma or its equivalent and one-year of experience in the maintenance, construction or grounds maintenance. Possession of a valid Florida Driver's License.

Job Competencies

Working with small equipment/engines (i.e., weed-eaters, chainsaws, pumps).

Experience in working with the public and the ability to work independently.

Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions and the ability to maintain effective working relationships.

Able to operate small equipment, tractors, club cars, beach cleaner and county trucks not requiring a CDL License.

Physical Demands: Must occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds.

Subject to Passing Substance Screening: This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening. An applicant who fails to pass a required drug screening test shall be disqualified from employment in any class for a period of five (5) years.
