Job summary

Odyssey Logistics in Fairbanks, AK is seeking a Mover Packer Crew Leader to lead the crew on each job assignment, handle driver duties to and from the job site, packing, loading, and delivery of freight within the greater Fairbanks area.

You will train and guide team members, coordinate with the dispatcher, ensure loads are secured, perform pre-trip inspections, and maintain safety and schedule adherence, with workdays Monday through Friday and occasional overtime.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Valid Class D driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
• Minimum of 6 months of experience driving a box truck.
• Prior military packing experience highly preferred; training may be provided for candidates without this experience.
• Valid government-issued ID required to access military bases or other secured facilities.
• Ability to lift at least 75 lbs.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a valid DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate (DOT medical card).
• Ability to pass a pre-employment physical, drug screen, including marijuana, and background check.
• Ability to read and write in English and understand traffic signs and controls in accordance with FHWA regulations.
• Ability to accurately complete required paperwork in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with management, customers, dispatch, and the general public.
• Ability to solve practical problems and professionally manage a variety of traffic, job-site, and customer situations.

Responsibilities

• Operates box trucks in compliance with local and state traffic codes/laws and company procedures.
• Maintains a professional attitude with customers and coworkers.
• Observe work schedules and specific delivery requirements set forth by Odyssey International Services Inc./ARS and their customers.
• Performs pre-trip inspections on all vehicles and ensures any necessary repairs are completed.
• Ensure load is properly stowed and secured to prevent shifting or damage during transit.
• Use proper equipment for loading/unloading of freight.
• Knowledge to install and remove tire chains.
• Leader/Person in charge at job assignment to manage the crew and be the primary contact with the dispatcher.
• Review job requirements, ensure packing materials are accounted for prior to going to the job for the day.
• Train/guide team members on the job, provide directions and goals to achieve.
• Ensure clean up at job site and return tools to the ARS warehouse.
• Knowledge of TRANSCOM requirements, rules and regulations.
• All other duties and projects assigned.
