Job summary

Railserve, part of Marmon Holdings, is hiring a Crew Leader in Indiana to supervise field crews on track construction and rail yard projects. The role focuses on safety, training, and meeting customer expectations in a fast-paced environment.

You will direct resources, ensure FRA regulations, and drive on-site efficiency while maintaining high standards of quality and teamwork.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 5–7 years of experience in railroad track construction.
  • 2+ years of supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of track construction, maintenance, and defect identification.
  • Ability to operate and train others on heavy equipment (backhoe, front‑end loader).
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and manage multiple tasks.
  • Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, and safety standards.
  • Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
  • Ability to pass a drug screen and background check.
  • FRA certification required when applicable.

Job Description

In this role, you will lead field crews, coordinate project execution, and ensure compliance with company procedures and FRA regulations. You will play a key role in training employees, managing resources, and maintaining high safety and performance standards. If you are a strong leader with track construction experience and enjoy working in a fast‑paced, field‑based environment, this role may be a great fit.

Schedule: Full‑time; schedule varies based on project and site needs

Compensation: Starting at $25.00 per hour (based on experience)

Duties
  • Lead and direct crews performing track construction and rail yard work
  • Plan and coordinate materials, equipment, and staffing for projects
  • Ensure all work is performed safely and in compliance with FRA rules and company procedures
  • Oversee daily crew activities to ensure efficiency, quality, and safety
  • Train and onboard new employees
  • Monitor project progress and adjust plans as needed to meet timelines
  • Support cost control and efficient use of resources
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
Job Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED
  • 5–7 years of experience in railroad track construction
  • 2+ years of supervisory or leadership experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of track construction, maintenance, and defect identification
  • Ability to operate and train others on heavy equipment (backhoe, front‑end loader)
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and manage multiple tasks
  • Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, and safety standards
  • Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division)
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Ability to lift and move equipment (up to ~75 lbs)
  • Ability to pass a drug screen and background check
  • FRA certification required when applicable
