Job summary

City of Temple is seeking a Crew Leader II to supervise a ballfield maintenance crew and oversee athletic field upkeep under the Parks Foreman. You will lead daily tasks, ensure turf care, and coordinate with leagues and vendors.

The role requires a high school diploma, 1 year of lead experience, 2 years of field maintenance, and irrigation know-how. You will plan assignments, enforce safety guidelines, and support city events.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two (2) years of experience in ballfield maintenance, landscaping, irrigation, or related field.
• One (1) year of experience in a lead or supervisory role.
• Six (6) months of experience working with irrigation systems.

Responsibilities

• Provides instructional supervision to ballfield maintenance crew members to ensure proper maintenance of assigned athletic facilities.
• Reports maintenance items by inputting them in Maintrac and coordinates repairs as needed.
• Keeps athletic fields free of trash and debris; performs turf care including sod cutting, repair seeding, and watering.
• Creates a water schedule for all athletic fields and inspects irrigation systems monthly, reporting repairs needed.
• Ensures routine maintenance is performed on equipment and tools before use.
• Assists in daily general athletic field maintenance, including dragging and lining fields, setting bases, watering infields, and stocking restrooms.
• Collaborates with vendors and suppliers to discuss products used in repair work and ordering supplies.
• Prepares daily assignments for staff.
• Collaborates with league coordinators to identify fields needed for play and prioritizes off-season maintenance projects.
• Supports City-sponsored events and tournaments as assigned.
• Follows City policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Reports any maintenance items needing repairs by inputting them in Maintrac
• Keeps all athletic fields free of trash and debris and performs general turf care, including sod cutting, repair seeding, and watering
• Creates a water schedule for all athletic fields and inspects irrigation systems monthly, reporting any repairs needed
• Ensures routine maintenance is done on all equipment and tools before useAssists in the daily general athletic field maintenance, including dragging & lining fields, setting bases, watering infields, and ensuring restrooms are clean and stocked
• Collaborates with vendors and suppliers to discuss products used in repair work and ordering any supplies needed
• Prepares daily assignments for staff
• Collaborates with league coordinators to identify the fields needed for play during the playing season.
• Works with leagues to create a prioritized list of off-season maintenance projects, submitting it to the foreman for final approval
• Supports City-sponsored special events and tournaments as assigned
• Follows City policies, procedures, and safety guidelines
• Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Two (2) years of experience in ballfield maintenance, landscaping, irrigation, or related field
• One (1) year of experience in a lead or supervisory role
• Six (6) months of experience working with irrigation systems

Certifications and Licenses

• Valid driver’s license
• TDA non-commercial applicators license or the ability to obtain license within six (6) months of employment
