Job summary

Gfoat is seeking a Parks Maintenance Supervisor to ensure safe, well-maintained athletic facilities and excellent public service. You will coordinate maintenance, supervise crews, and maintain records using Cityworks, while ensuring readiness for events and ongoing training.

The role requires experience in athletic field upkeep, irrigation systems, and the ability to lift up to 80 pounds, with a Texas driver license and a chemical safety certification within 6 months of hire.

Qualifications

  • Must supervise and train staff and follow safety policies.
  • Experience with athletic field/turf maintenance and irrigation systems.
  • Valid Texas driver license and ability to obtain irrigation license within 6 months.
  • Completion of TDA chemical safety class required within 6 months.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule, coordinate, and perform maintenance at athletic facilities.
  • Supervise crew in park maintenance tasks and equipment operation.
  • Inspect fields, use Cityworks to keep maintenance records, and read plans for best practices.
  • Order materials and attend training to stay current on products and trends.
  • Work extended hours for events; perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

Job Summary

Work under the supervision of the Parks Supervisor to provide a safe and aesthetically pleasing environment in the City's athletics facilities and to communicate effectively and courteously with the public and private sectors about special projects, events, and/or maintenance related concerns in the provision of the highest level of customer service possible to all customers.

Examples of Duties
  • Work in conjunction with the Parks Supervisor to schedule, coordinate, and perform maintenance at all athletic facilities.
  • Work in conjunction with the Athletics Supervisor to schedule maintenance staff for all tournament play.
  • Supervise and collaborate with crew members in the performance of various park and facility maintenance assignments including, but not limited to:
    • Operate power tools such as edgers, weed eaters, chain saws, rotary tillers, hammer drills, etc.
    • Operate equipment such as zero turn mowers, utility vehicles, field groomers, and tractors with attachments.
    • Conduct regular inspections of athletic fields and facilities to identify and prioritize issues accordingly.
    • Use Cityworks to maintain all records of athletic field maintenance operations.
    • Read and suggest edits to construction plans in accordance with best maintenance practices.
    • Prepare for and implement the ordering of materials, equipment, and supplies to complete assigned tasks.
    • Attend pertinent training classes to obtain information on current products, practices, and trends in the athletic maintenance field.
    • Oversee service and preventative maintenance of vehicles and equipment.
    • Work extended hours including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed for special events.
    • May be required to perform other department duties as assigned.
Typical Qualifications

  • Ability to proficiently operate a computer and work order management software
  • Good organizational skills, creativity, initiative, and a desire to learn
  • Knowledge of sports turf and irrigation systems maintenance and operations
  • Knowledge of operating various types of tractors, field groomers, mowers, and equipment needed for maintenance operations
Education and Experience
Required
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid Texas Driver's License
  • Completion of an 8 hour TDA approved chemical safety class for application of herbicides/pesticides under the supervision of a licensed chemical applicator within 6 months of hire
  • Background in athletic field/turf maintenance
  • Irrigation License or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire
Preferred
  • 1+ year(s) supervisory experience
