Job summary

The City of Dallas is seeking a Crew Leader to guide a medium to large crew across multiple municipal maintenance projects. You will lead, train, and coordinate crews, ensuring safety and efficiency, and oversee equipment, materials, and records.

You will work with diverse departments including parks, water management, and facilities, and may be assigned to several Dallas Water Utilities locations. CDL requirements and leadership experience are highly valued.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Four (4) years of experience with a variety of machines and equipment in a large municipality or complex infrastructure, performing general labor in various trades.
• Experience supervising or leading a crew is highly preferred.
• CDL Class A with good driving record for Forestry, Code Compliance, Parks, Public Works, Traffic Signals, Water Distribution, Water Quality and DWU Stormwater; Class B CDL for Facilities, Landscape, Maintenance, Wastewater Collection and Sanitation; Movement Area Certification for Aviation; TCEQ License for DWU may be required.

Responsibilities

• Organizes and assigns daily work for crewmembers; ensures safe and efficient work completed properly.
• Leads, trains, and coordinates crews; provides on-site training and safety guidance; liaises with supervisors as needed.
• Maintains records of expenses, work orders, schedules, and attendance; ensures materials and supplies are available.
• Maintains and repairs equipment; ensures tools are clean and ready for use.
• Directs cleanup and maintenance around sites; keeps areas safe and organized.
• Drives City trucks to transport workers, materials, and equipment to jobsites.
• Responds to citizen inquiries and provides excellent customer service; educates on tree benefits, parking regulations and lawn maintenance.
• Supports City of Dallas in emergencies; on-call for storm events to keep rights-of-way clear.
