Job summary

Technibus, Inc. is seeking a Crew Lead - Structured Cabling to supervise field installation crews on voice, data, and structured cabling projects in the Tempe area.

You will serve as the primary on-site coordinator, ensuring installations meet safety, quality, and schedule requirements while providing technical guidance and maintaining project documentation for customers. The role requires strong leadership, strong communication, blueprint reading, and problem-solving abilities.

Qualifications

  • Minimum five years supervisory or managerial experience.
  • Minimum three years as Lead Communications Technician or similar position.
  • Minimum five years in telecommunications or related field.
  • Proficient with computer and MS Office.

Job description

The Crew Lead - Structured Cabling is responsible for leading and supervising field installation crews on voice, data, and structured cabling projects. This role serves as the primary on-site coordinator, ensuring installations are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and in accordance with company and customer quality standards. The Crew Lead provides technical guidance, oversees daily activities, maintains project documentation, and serves as the primary customer contact at the job site.

Key Responsibilities
Crew Leadership & Supervision
  • Lead and manage installation crews on structured cabling projects.
  • Provide training, coaching, and technical guidance to team members.
  • Monitor employee performance and communicate concerns to the Project Manager when necessary.
  • Conduct and document weekly safety meetings.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, customer requirements, and safety standards.
Project Execution & Coordination
  • Coordinate daily activities with the Project Manager and Project Lead.
  • Monitor productivity and project progress to ensure work is completed on time and within budget.
  • Assist with planning work assignments and resource allocation.
  • Ensure efficient execution of installation activities and project milestones.
Documentation & Administration
  • Complete all required company and project documentation accurately and on time.
  • Process timesheets, work orders, material transfers, tool transfers, and change orders.
  • Maintain accurate project records and job documentation.
  • Prepare and update red-lined as-built drawings.
Quality Control & Technical Support
  • Conduct quality inspections to ensure installations meet company and customer standards.
  • Coordinate moves, adds, changes, and voice/data cross-connect activities.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in the field.
  • Demonstrate advanced technical knowledge of structured cabling systems and installation practices.
Customer Relations
  • Serve as the primary on-site point of contact for customers.
  • Address customer questions and concerns professionally and promptly.
  • Attend customer, construction, and facility meetings as required.
  • Maintain positive relationships with customers and project stakeholders.
Safety & Process Improvement
  • Promote and enforce all company and customer safety requirements.
  • Ensure crews follow established safety procedures and best practices.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and increased efficiency.
  • Support company culture, values, and operational excellence initiatives.

Min USD $30.00/Hr. Max USD $35.00/Hr.

Qualifications

Physical and Mental Requirements:

  • Regular attendance is mandatory
  • The General Superintendent must be self-motivated, positive in approach, and convey an appropriate professional image.
  • The General Superintendent must promote the Company culture and mission to all employees, vendors, clients and business partners.
  • The General Superintendent must possess proven problem-solving skills, critical thinking skills and the ability to effectively read, write and give oral presentation(s).
  • The General Superintendent must also have excellent organizational skills and the ability to develop branch and job processes and best practices.
  • The General Superintendent must have proven high skill level to interpret blueprints and other project documents, including but not limited to, specifications, reporting and quality requirements.
  • The General Superintendent must be able to travel within the branch territory and/or regional territory as needed.
  • The General Superintendent must possess the ability to learn and teach the Company and customer project management systems.
  • The General Superintendent must be able to work at heights, off of a ladder and in confined spaces, lift up to 50 pounds and move up to 75 pounds.
  • Must be able to stand and walk very large job sites regularly.
  • The General Superintendent must be able to see and distinguish different colors, read small print and hear and recognize audible signals such as dial tones.

Education, Certification, License, and Skill Requirements:

  • Prefer a minimum of five (5) years’ experience of supervisory or managerial experience.
  • The General Superintendent must have a minimum of three (3) years’ experience as a Lead Communications Technician or similar position.
  • The General Superintendent must also have a minimum of five (5) years’ experience in telecommunications or a related technical or construction field.
  • Must be proficient with a computer and be skilled with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and MS Project).
  • Must meet Company minimum driving standards.
  • The General Superintendent Must have demonstrated verifiable ability to define a project, create a project scope of work, create an estimate, develop detailed associated tasks and manage these to final completion and customer turnover.
  • Must be able to use the following trade Tools: punch tool with 110 block and 66 block blade, 6/8 position combo crimp tool, Krone/3M/BIX, butt set, volt‑ohmmeter, 4‑pair continuity tester and 5‑gang punch tool.
