Job summary

IES is seeking a Superintendent to lead medium to large-scale projects on site, ensuring safety, schedule, and budget adherence. You will manage staff, vendors, and customer relations while driving profitability and quality delivery.

The role requires strong leadership, budgeting expertise, and the ability to interpret construction drawings, with a focus on safety and continuous improvement across operations.

Qualifications

  • Minimum three (3) years’ supervisory or managerial experience.
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience as a Lead Communications Technician or similar position.
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in telecommunications or related field.
  • Proficient with a computer; skilled with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, MS Project).
  • Must meet Company driving standards.
  • Ability to define a project, create a scope of work, estimate, develop tasks and manage to completion.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all project operations from planning through completion.
  • Recruit, hire, train, mentor, evaluate, and manage project staff.
  • Serve as the primary customer-facing representative and on-site point of contact.
  • Oversee project schedules, staffing, workload distribution, and resource allocation.
  • Ensure projects meet deadlines, quality standards, safety requirements, and budget goals.
  • Monitor project profitability, job costs, invoicing, collections, and financial reporting.
  • Review and approve project documentation, including timesheets, change orders, work orders, and closeout packages.
  • Conduct site walks, quality inspections, and outage prevention efforts.
  • Review and maintain as-built drawings and project documentation.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and provide guidance to field teams.
  • Monitor operational processes including estimating, purchasing, scheduling, warehousing, reporting, and invoicing.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and operational efficiencies.
  • Promote and enforce company safety policies and quality standards.
  • Lead operations meetings, training sessions, and team development activities.
  • Manage company vehicles, tools, and inventory.
  • Support successful project closeout and customer satisfaction.

Superintendent

The Superintendent is responsible for overseeing all aspects of medium to large-scale projects, ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and according to quality standards. This role serves as the primary operational leader on-site, managing personnel, customer relationships, project execution, financial performance, and overall project success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strong customer relationship and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and construction documents.

  • Strong understanding of safety programs, quality control, and operational processes.
Min Salary

USD $35.00/Hr.

Max Salary

USD $40.00/Hr.

Qualifications
Physical and Mental Requirements
  • Regular attendance is mandatory
  • The Superintendent must be self-motivated, positive in approach, and convey an appropriate professional image.
  • The Superintendent must promote the Company culture and mission to all employees, vendors, clients and business partners.
  • The Superintendent must possess proven problem-solving skills, critical thinking skills and the ability to effectively read, write and give oral presentation(s).
  • The Superintendent must also have excellent organizational skills and the ability to develop branch and job processes and best practices.
  • The Superintendent must have proven high skill level to interpret blueprints and other project documents, including but not limited to, specifications, reporting and quality requirements.
  • The Superintendent must be able to travel within the branch territory and/or regional territory as needed.
  • The Superintendent must possess the ability to learn and teach the Company and customer project management systems.
  • The Superintendent must be able to work at heights, off of a ladder and in confined spaces, lift up to 50 pounds and move up to 75 pounds.
  • The Superintendent must be able to see and distinguish different colors, read small print and hear and recognize audible signals such as dial tones.
Tools
  • Screwdriver (regular and Phillips), torpedo level, tape measure, snips (with belt sheath), pliers (needle nose and channel locks), hammer, wrench set, cable stripper, flashlight and gloves. Muck boots/water boots.
Education, Certification, License, and Skill Requirements
  • Prefer a minimum of three (3) years’ experience of supervisory or managerial experience.
  • The Superintendent must have a minimum of three (3) years’ experience as a Lead Communications Technician or similar position.
  • The Superintendent must also have a minimum of five (5) years’ experience in telecommunications or a related technical or construction field.
  • Must be proficient with a computer and be skilled with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and MS Project).
  • Must meet Company minimum driving standards.
  • The Superintendent Must have demonstrated verifiable ability to define a project, create a project scope of work, create an estimate, develop detailed associated tasks and manage them to final completion and customer turnover.
  • Must be able to use the following trade Tools: punch tool with 110 block and 66 block blade, 6/8 position combo crimp tool, Krone/3M/BIX, butt set, volt-ohmmeter, 4-pair continuity tester and 5-gang punch tool.
